What's the story with Dirt Hunter?
Dirt Hunter was founded to bring a product to market that I needed for myself. As an avid mountain biker, dirt bike rider, and family man; I wanted a bed system that I could easily remove when my needs changed with little to no modification to our van. Considering the current market offerings for outfitting a full size van didn't leave much to be desired when you factor in family vacations requiring seating for 10 people or a moto weekend where the rear of the van has three dirt bikes stuffed in with many being a full build out and permanent. Left with no options for what I considered to be the optimal solution, I created my own and Dirt Hunter was formed.
I built the first system out of plywood with no intentions of coming to market with a product. We owned and operated a Mountain Bike Shop and traveled a lot to events for the company. This first system is very similar to the product we offer today. It requires no modifications to our van, which was very important to me. Easily removed from the van and this was the number one factor for us. We used it extensively and everywhere we went someone wanted to buy one. I decided to make it a thing and go to market. What you see today is three years of engineering, design, testing, and feedback. We are very proud of what has been created and most excited about the personalization engineered into the design.
We moved to the Mountain Bike Capital of the World; Bentonville, AR in 2020 and its where we have headquartered Dirt Hunter. We have kits ready to install and can easily set up your van in half a day. If you prefer to skip the DIY thing, let me know. We can get you scheduled. Load up the bikes and head to Bentonville. Drop the van off for the install and go ride. You will be sleeping in it that night.
What is the next step for us?
We are engineering a lot of accessories for the kits. Drawers, lighting kits, bike trays.. the list goes on. We are also engineering an overlanding drawer system that mates well with the bed kit, or is stand alone in the truck bed. Stay in touch and feel free to drop us a line if you have an questions.
